The presentations shown at the 1st Implementation Guidelines Workshop are now available for members in the intranet. Please login and then go to "Documents" and select "2014 - 1st Impl. Guidl. Workshop".

First Implementation Guidelines Workshop

The first „Implementation Guidelines Workshop“ of the user group USE61400-25 has been held on February 18 and 19, 2014 hosted by one of its members Senvion SE in Hamburg, Germany. The USE61400-25 user group has the main aim to ease the use of IEC 61400-25 and support users implementing the standard within the wind power industry.

With several speeches the user group provided basic information about the approach to the data model, the different ways of building a model and aspects of user defined extensions of the standard. Technical field reports on already running implementations completed the insight to the use of the standard. Finally the possibilities of certification for products compliant to the standard and also the handling of the different editions have been presented to the very interested audience from all parts of wind power industry.

Not only the presentations but also the following possibilities for discussion and exchange of experiences have been appreciated by the more than 40 participants, both members of the user group and guests. The first workshop of this kind is also a Kick-Off for an “Implementation Guidelines Document" provided by the user group USE61400-25 in future.

EWEA2011 - great interest for the IEC 61400-25 standard

9000+ praticipants had the chance to learn more about IEC 61400-25 at the EWEA2011 conference in Brussels, Belgium.

Not everyone passed through the USE61400-25 exhibition booth but a fair amount of people did. Contacts were made with people from more than 40 companies, from both supplier and customer side in the global wind power business.

The visitors could get information about the standard and the users group as presented in the information brochure and also see a demonstration of interoperability between IEC 61400-25 compliant wind turbine controllers and SCADA clients. At the booth visitors could read more about our user group in the new information brohcure - click here if you want a copy...

The interoperability demos were based on the experience obtained during the User Group Interoperability workshops the last two years.

NIST SGIP meeting participation

USE61400-25 attended to the NIST SGIP meeting hold in St Louis in September. USE61400-25 members explained the advantages of using IEC 61400-25 as the solution for the interoperability in the wind communications. With this step NIST PAP 16 (related to wind communications) is nearer to define IEC 61400-25 as the prefered standard for the smart grid in US. Read more here...

EWEA membership

USE61400-25 becomes member of EWEA. With this action USE61400-25 expects to collect more information about the wind activities and special discounts in the conferences organzied by this association.

Nordic wind power presentation

What could an open starndard for access to turbine data provide for O&M and how is this issue developing? Anders Johnsson from the USE61400-25 was invited to speak on this topic at the Nordic Wind power Conference on Operation & Maintenance.

The presentation especially touched the process from alarm signal, repair to learning and how the maintenance process look, and which systems that need to interact. How can the information become more overview oriented, comparable, easily accessed, and with better possibilities for creating new trends and analyzing each turbine?

IEC 61400-25 is here an important part in making information from several systems and turbine manufacturesrs collected together. Read more here...

NIST presentation

NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology) in US, is elaborating a big scenary for open communications within Smart Grids. In this scenary the communication with the wind power plants is being analyzed by PAP (Priory Action Plan) 16. USE61400-25 collaborates with this initiative and it has provided some information to clarify the interfaces and topologies where IEC 61400-25 can be applied, read more here...
